DMV Community Events: Summer Networking & Education for Notaries

July 24, 20253 min read

Maryland Notaries In Action took a well-deserved summer breather—but now we’re back, energized and ready to bring our Maryland notary community exciting news, resources, and meaningful “food for thought.” With roughly 40 days left of summer, our goal is to serve you a fresh lineup of upcoming events that’ll educate, inspire—and yes—help you grow your contact list through invaluable networking opportunities.

National Night Out

Our first spotlight event is National Night Out, a cornerstone community-police awareness-raising campaign in the U.S. Founded by Matt Peskin in 1984 in suburban Philadelphia, the movement started simply—neighbors keeping their porch lights on and gathering outside—but has since grown into a nationwide celebration of community and safety.

Typically held on the first Tuesday in August, this year it falls on August 5, 2025. Across Maryland, many counties and municipalities are stepping up with gatherings that include educational booths, demos, family activities, and the chance to meet local law enforcement:

Anne Arundel County: Events at Brooklyn Park, Kinder Farm Park, Crofton Country Club, and Annapolis Mall.

Montgomery County: Meet officials and enjoy free ice cream at Hillandale Local Park.

Prince George’s County: Neighborhood celebrations from Upper Marlboro to Hyattsville.

Frederick County (Middletown): Family-friendly festivities at the Firehall &

Activities Center.

Olney: Fair Hill Shopping Center hosts its 30th annual celebration.

St. Mary’s County: Organized by the Sheriff’s Office—register to participate.

Rockville: Neighborhood parties with bounce houses, giveaways, and McGruff the Crime Dog.

National Night Out isn’t just a fun evening—it’s a powerful reminder that safer communities are built when neighbors connect, learn about safety, and bond with law enforcement.
